Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman has revealed what has surprised him most about life at Atletico Madrid after making an impressive start to his career with the Spanish giants, Footynaija.com reports.
Lookman joined Atletico from Atalanta during the January transfer window and wasted little time making his mark, scoring and providing an assist on his debut in a 5-0 Copa del Rey victory over Real Betis.
The Nigeria international went on to establish himself as an important member of Diego Simeone’s squad, registering nine goals and four assists in 24 appearances across all competitions during his first six months at the club.

His return included four goals in 12 La Liga appearances, while he added two goals and two assists in the Champions League and three goals and two assists in the Copa del Rey.
However, while his performances have helped him settle quickly in Madrid, it is the Atletico supporters who have left the biggest impression on the 28-year-old.

“I haven’t seen anything like it before, and I think that’s what makes Atletico special,” Lookman said in quotes revealed by Estadio Deportivo.
The winger was particularly impressed by the number of supporters who turn up for Atletico matches, with crowds of around 65,000 to 70,000 creating what he described as an incredible atmosphere.
Lookman also recalled the reception he received when Atletico Madrid travelled to Seville for his debut against Real Betis.

“It was fantastic because we travelled on the same day, and I think we were greeted by so many fans in Seville,” he said.
“I was surprised by the number of people waiting for us at the airport. It was a revelation for me in terms of the support, the people who back us, and how much it means to them.”
Lookman will now hope his strong start can translate into an even bigger impact during the 26/27 campaign as he begins his first full season in Atletico’s famous red-and-white colours.
