Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has described Mohamed Salah’s reception at Trabzonspor as “absolutely crazy” while revealing what the Egyptian star can expect from the club’s passionate supporters, Footynaija.com reports.
Salah completed his sensational move to the Turkish club last week after leaving Liverpool as a free agent, bringing one of the biggest names in world football to the Black Sea city.
His arrival generated enormous excitement among Trabzonspor supporters, who turned out in large numbers to welcome the 34-year-old forward before his official unveiling at Papara Park.
Mikel, who spent the latter stages of his playing career with Trabzonspor, knows exactly what Salah is walking into and believes the reaction to the former Liverpool star was unlike any other in the club’s history.

“Trabzonspor is a really good club, the people live and breathe football. It’s a football city,” Mikel told Turkish outlet Sabah.
“But this time, it was different, it was thousands of people that came out to welcome Mo Salah, it was absolutely crazy.”
The former Chelsea midfielder also explained the demanding relationship between the club and its supporters, warning that Salah will need to maintain a high level of performance to remain in their good books.

“The people in the city will worship you if you’re playing well and winning games. They turn on you quickly, they don’t care who you are or where you are from.
“I hope it works out well for him and his family, that they feel comfortable and enjoy the city.
“Because one thing is for sure, if he keeps performing and playing well for that City, they would absolutely worship him.”
Salah is now preparing for his first competitive appearance for Trabzonspor, with a Super Lig opener against Kasımpaşa potentially providing his first opportunity to show the supporters what they can expect from their blockbuster new signing.
