Venezia are making a strong push to sign Nigerian striker Akor Adams, with the Italian club now taking direct action to complete a deal with Sevilla, Footynaija reports.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Venezia sporting director Filippo Antonelli travelled to Spain on Thursday to meet Sevilla officials as negotiations entered a crucial stage. The Serie A newcomers are leading the transfer race for the Nigerian and are eager to bring the 26-year-old to Italy before the new season starts.
Adams enjoyed a solid 2025-26 campaign with Sevilla after arriving from Montpellier in January 2025. He scored 10 goals in 32 matches across all competitions and finished as the club’s top scorer in La Liga despite a difficult season for the Spanish side.
Venezia have reportedly increased their offer to €12 million, while Sevilla are asking for around €15 million. The difference between both clubs is now much smaller, giving hope that an agreement could be reached soon.
The Italian side have already agreed personal terms with Adams on a contract that would run until June 2030, despite the striker initially insisting he intends to stay in Spain. Sevilla are also believed to be more open to selling because they need to improve their finances and meet La Liga’s financial rules.
If the transfer is completed for around €15 million, Adams would become Venezia’s most expensive signing ever. The club’s current record belongs to American midfielder Gianluca Busio, who joined for about €6 million in 2021.
Although Venezia have looked at other attacking options, Adams remains their first choice as they prepare for life back in Serie A. A successful deal would mark another major step in the Nigerian forward’s European career after spells in Norway, France and Spain.
