Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has addressed his future at Trabzonspor amid recent speculations linking him with a move away from Papara Park this summer, Footynaija.com reports.

Nwaiwu became an instant hit at Trabzonspor after moving to the Istanbul based Turkish Super Lig side from Austrian Bundesliga outfit Wolfsberger AC during the 2026 January transfer window.

The 22-year-old center-back slotted in seamlessly at the heart of Trabzonspor’s backline, making 21 appearances across the Super Lig and Turkish Kupasi as the Black Sea Storm finished third in the league and went on to lift the cup.

Understandably, such an impressive first six months at Papara Park is drawing attention from across Europe, with Nwaiwu reportedly on the radar of several clubs looking to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of the upcoming season.

Recent reports suggest Premier League side Fulham as a possible destination, while the likes of Bayer Leverkusen from the German Bundesliga and Lazio from Serie A are also clubs credited with interest in the Nigeria international.

Amid the ongoing speculation surrounding his future, Nwaiwu has insisted that his immediate focus remains on Trabzonspor, although he stopped short of completely ruling out a summer departure.

”I have an ongoing contract with Trabzonspor, so I need to go back and continue my path with my club,” Nwaiwu told Trabz10 TV.

“Yes, that is my club, and I am a contracted player there. Whatever happens from now on, happens.”

While Trabzonspor are not exactly looking to offload the Super Eagles defender this summer, reports suggest that the Black Sea Storm would be open to sanctioning his departure for a fee in the region of €40 million and above.
