Nigeria’s Rinsola Babajide and Shukurat Oladipo ended the season on a high after helping AS Roma Women secure the Coppa Italia title with a narrow 1-0 win over Juventus Women on Sunday, Footynaija reports.
The triumph completed a remarkable domestic double for Roma, coming only days after the club lifted the Serie A Femminile crown. It is also the second time in three seasons that the capital club have won both major domestic trophies in the same campaign.
Oladipo once again played a major role in Roma’s success. The defender, recently named the best defender in the Italian top flight, stayed on the pitch for the entire final and produced another composed display at the back as Juventus pushed hard for an equaliser late in the game.
Babajide, meanwhile, was included in the matchday squad but remained on the bench throughout the contest.
With the game heading towards extra time, Roma captain Manuela Giugliano delivered the decisive moment in the 80th minute. The midfielder scored with Roma’s only shot on target, finding the net with a calm finish that ultimately settled a tense final.
Juventus threw numbers forward in the closing stages but Roma defended stubbornly to protect their lead and seal another memorable trophy-winning campaign.
Babajide and Oladipo are now expected to shift focus to international duty with the Nigeria women’s national football team ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco later this summer.
