Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has credited his teammates at Atletico Madrid for his quick adaptation to life in the Spanish capital following his winter arrival from Atalanta, Footynaija.com reports.
Lookman has been an instant hit at Atletico Madrid, with the Nigeria international registering nine goal contributions (6G, 3A) in 17 appearances across all competitions. Those numbers make him the second highest goal contributor for Los Colchoneros, behind only Argentine World Cup winner Julian Alvarez since joining the club back in January.
Quizzed during a recent interview about his incredible impact at the Wanda Metropolitano, Lookman revealed that quality of players already at the club is one of the major factors that have helped him settle in quickly.

“I think the group of course, and how welcoming they’ve been, and how they’ve helped me to adapt,” he told ESPN. “You know, I think being amongst top players like these, who can really make a difference has helped me to settle in and be the player that I am.”
Lookman recently played a decisive role as Atletico Madrid knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League over a two-legged tie to reach the semi-finals.
After that game Atleti boss Diego Simeone waxed lyrical in praise of the Super Eagles star but also did not shy away from demanding more. For Lookman, having such a demanding manager has been quite pivotal to his improvement.

“Well, I think he [Simeone] just wants more of everything, you know. Whether that’s defending, attacking and helping the team in certain moments. Being part of the play, he demands more from me.
“It’s a pleasure you know, because I have someone who sees more in me, pushes me, and wants more from me. I have to keep working, and keep demanding more from myself too. It’s what I want to do, to be the best I can for the team and myself.”
Atletico Madrid are already out of the La Liga title conversation, with 22 points currently between them and table toppers Barcelona. However, they still have two opportunities to win silverware after booking their place in the Copa del Rey finals and the UCL semi-finals.
