Scottish giants Rangers are already planning for life without new Super Eagles defender Emmanuel Fernandez, Footynaija reports.
The Ibrox landlords have identified a possible replacement for Fernandez as interest in the Nigeria defender continues to grow ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old centre-back has been one of the standout performers at Ibrox this season. Clubs across Europe are now watching closely, with Arsenal believed to be leading the race for his signature.
Fellow Premier League sides Chelsea, West Ham United and Everton are also monitoring his situation, while interest has emerged from Germany, including Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
According to a recent report, Rangers are aware that a ‘significant offer’ could arrive and test their resolve. Rangers would prefer to keep Fernandez, especially after his strong displays and recent debut for Nigeria, but the level of interest means they may struggle to hold on if a major bid comes in.
As a result, attention has turned to Luke Graham, who currently plays for Dundee FC as per IbroxNews. The young defender has been identified internally as a potential replacement, with Rangers already having scouted him during the season.
Graham, 22, has impressed with his consistency this season. He has featured in 31 league matches, contributing an average of 1.6 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 6.7 clearances per game. He has also won 60% of his ground duels and 70% of his aerial battles, a pointer to his strength in defensive situations.
Standing at 6ft 3in, Graham offers the physical presence Rangers value in central defence. Just as importantly, he is comfortable on the ball and capable of building play from the back, an attribute that fits well with the style preferred by manager Danny Rohl.
He has also shown strong durability, missing just one league match all season, which further strengthens his case as a reliable option.
If Fernandez does leave, Graham appears to be a natural successor. But Rangers will need to act quickly. With growing interest from clubs across Europe, competition for his signature is expected to intensify, raising the risk that they could miss out if negotiations are delayed.
