Blackburn Rovers manager Michael O’Neil has issued an update on the potential availability of Super Eagles defender Ryan Alebiosu ahead of his side’s EFL Championship clash with Coventry City on Friday, Footynaija.com reports.
Alebiosu came out on the wrong end of a collision during Blackburn’s Championship clash with Southampton on Tuesday and had to be substituted for Japanese defender Ryoya Morishita as the Rovers succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the St. Mary’s.
Providing an update on the Nigeria international ahead of the upcoming encounter at Ewood Park, O’Neil revealed that the club would have to assess his condition before deciding whether he’ll be fit enough to contribute against the Championship table toppers.

“Alebiosu came off as well, we had to take him out,” the Blackburn Rovers boss said in a chat with the Lancashire Telegraph.
“We will have to wait and see. I don’t have any medical news I can give you. Ryan got injured in a collision. He was struggling with his ribs and his back. We’ve just got to see.”

Michael O’Neil will be hoping Alebiosu can shake off any fitness concerns and be ready to play a part on Friday as the Rovers look to put further distance between themselves and the EFL Championship’s relegation places.
Blackburn currently sit in 20th place and are only four points above the drop zone. They’re winless in their last three outings and now face the daunting task of breaking that run against Frank Lampard’s Premier League bound Coventry City.
