Victor Osimhen will spend several days in Nigeria to recover after suffering a fractured arm during Galatasaray’s heavy defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League, Footynaija reports.
The 27-year-old striker was injured in the first half at Anfield after a strong challenge from Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté. Osimhen received treatment on the pitch and initially attempted to continue, but the pain proved too much and he was withdrawn at half-time.
Galatasaray went on to lose 4-0 on the night, confirming their exit from the competition with a 4-1 aggregate defeat in the round of 16. The result marked a disappointing end to their European campaign, made worse by the loss of their key forward.

Following medical checks, the club confirmed Osimhen had sustained a fracture in his right forearm. His arm has since been placed in a protective cast, while doctors continue to monitor his condition to determine whether surgery will be necessary.
Rather than return to Turkey with his team-mates, Osimhen has travelled directly to Nigeria, where he will spend a scheduled five-day break resting and beginning his recovery. A final decision on potential surgery is expected after further assessment once he returns to Istanbul.
Galatasaray are not back in action until April 5, when they face Trabzonspor, giving the club time to evaluate Osimhen’s fitness ahead of their next fixture.
The forward will also miss Nigeria’s upcoming international friendlies, having not been selected by head coach Eric Chelle. Instead, players such as Paul Onuachu, Akor Adams, Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze have been called up for matches against Iran and Jordan later this month.
