Several Nigeria internationals were involved for their clubs across Europe on Saturday, with mixed fortunes ranging from impressive victories to frustrating setbacks, Footynaija reports.
In Spain, Ademola Lookman started for Atletico Madrid in a dramatic 3-2 victory over Real Sociedad in La Liga.
The forward was on the pitch for nearly an hour before being substituted. Although he played his part in Atletico’s attacking play, Lookman is still searching for another goal contribution after failing to score or assist in his fourth straight league match, following a bright start to his spell in Spain.
Nigerian and AC Milan center-back Fikayo Tomori has identified Super Eagles stars Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen as some of the most challenging attackers he has faced in his career.

Over in Italy, Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye experienced a night of contrasting moments during his side’s 2-2 draw away to Atalanta in Serie A.
The Nigerian produced two excellent saves to keep his team ahead at key moments. However, his late mistake allowed Gianluca Scamacca to level the match in the 79th minute after Udinese had held a two-goal advantage.
Elsewhere in Italy, Rafiu Durosinmi made his eighth league appearance for Pisa but could not prevent a heavy 4-0 defeat against Juventus. Fellow Nigerian Ebenezer Akinsanmiro remained on the bench throughout the encounter.
In Germany, Jordan Torunarigha delivered a solid defensive display as Hamburger SV secured a 2-1 away victory at Wolfsburg. Philip Otele also featured in the win.
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim climbed to third in the Bundesliga table after a comfortable 4-1 triumph over Heidenheim, though Kevin Akpoguma did not feature.
France brought disappointment for Chidozie Awaziem, whose Nantes side slipped deeper into relegation trouble after a 1-0 home defeat by Angers.
Tochukwu Nnadi was a second-half substitute in Marseille’s hard-fought 1-0 Ligue 1 win at Toulouse.

In England, the FA Cup produced contrasting outcomes for players with Nigerian links.
Mansfield Town duo Deji Oshilaja and Victor Adeboyejo were both involved in their side’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal, where goals from Noni Madueke and Ebere Eze sent the London club into the quarter-finals.
Arthur Okonkwo, another goalkeeper eligible for Nigeria, conceded four as Wrexham lost 4-2 after extra time to Chelsea, who had Tosin Adarabioyo in defence.
