Victor Osimhen has offered a clear update on the arm injury that will briefly halt his season, confirming he is set for surgery and outlining exactly how long he expects to be out, Footynaija reports.
The Galatasaray forward revealed the full extent of the problem during a livestream chat with Nigerian content creator Carter Efe. Speaking candidly, the striker explained that an operation is unavoidable after doctors confirmed a fracture.
“I need to go under the knife. ‘Under the knife’ means I need to have surgery to fix it because my arm is broken. It will take a maximum of five to six weeks. Six weeks at most, and I will be back to football,” he said.
Osimhen also walked fans through the expected recovery plan, giving a rare insight into the step-by-step process elite players follow after such injuries.“Most of the time, it’s four weeks, then two weeks for you to train alone, gradually regain your fitness, and then you join the team,” he added.
The injury was sustained during a bruising UEFA Champions League encounter against Liverpool at Anfield, where Osimhen was forced off in the first half following a heavy challenge involving defender Ibrahima Konaté. The incident left him in visible pain, and subsequent medical checks confirmed a fracture in his right forearm.
The Nigeria international has since travelled home to begin preparations for surgery and recovery, with his timeline suggesting a relatively swift return if rehabilitation goes to plan.
For both club and country, the update brings a measure of reassurance: while the setback is significant, it is unlikely to sideline one of Africa’s most prolific strikers for long.
