Sevilla are sweating over the fitness status of Chidera Ejuke after the Super Eagles forward missed Wednesday’s training session due to a minor setback, Footynaija.com reports.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Ejuke was feeling a slight discomfort that prevented him from training with the rest of his teammates as Sevilla continued preparations ahead of facing La Liga leaders Barcelona in their next league outing.
However, the Nigeria international managed to do some specific work on his own and the Andalusians are monitoring his progress with hopes that he can recover on time to be available for Sunday’s clash at Spotify Camp Nou.

Ejuke has functioned as more of a rotation option at Sevilla for the vast majority of this season. Most of his appearances for Matias Almeyda’s side, especially since the start of 2026 have come off the substitute’s bench.
In 20 La Liga appearances so far, the 28-year-old attacker has just four starts to his name, with one goal and assist each to show for his efforts. He currently finds himself behind experienced Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez in the pecking order of attacking options at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Despite this, Sevilla would still love to have their man fit and firing ahead of what is sure to be a daunting trip to Barcelona this weekend. The Andalusian outfit will need all the help they can get if they’re to upset the champions in their own backyard.
Currently 14th on the La Liga standings, a win or draw against Barcelona would do Sevilla a world of good as they look to continue distancing themselves from the relegation zone.
