Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs looking to secure the signature of highly rated Nigerian teenager Abduljelil Kamaldeen, with a decision on the midfielder’s future expected in the coming months, Footynaija.com reports.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising young talents in Nigerian football and has attracted growing interest from European clubs following a series of impressive performances at youth international level. Belgian outfit KRC Genk are also pushing to land the midfielder, setting up a potential transfer battle for his signature.
Kamaldeen’s development has been closely monitored since his standout displays for Nigeria’s U-20 national team. The young midfielder caught the attention of scouts during the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, where he showcased his composure and technical ability on the international stage.

Interest in the teenager has been confirmed by officials at his current club, Kwara Football Academy. According to Footy-Africa, the academy’s Head of Football Operations, Ibrahim Jatto, revealed that both Chelsea and Genk have already made offers for the player as they attempt to convince him to join their respective development pathways.
Jatto also confirmed that Kamaldeen recently travelled to Europe, where he visited both clubs as part of the evaluation process before making a final decision on his next step.

The midfielder further enhanced his reputation during the WAFU Zone B U-20 Boys Cup in 2025, playing a key role in Nigeria’s triumph at the tournament. Kamaldeen scored in a 4-1 victory over Benin and impressed throughout the competition as the Flying Eagles secured the regional title.
While discussions with interested clubs are ongoing, the teenager is currently in Nigeria and is expected to return to Europe in early April. A final decision regarding his future is likely to be made before the summer transfer window opens.
