Nigeria’s preparations for the next international window are gathering pace, with Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle expected to name his squad for upcoming friendly matches in Jordan, Footynaija reports.
The team will assemble on 24 March before travelling to Amman for a four-nation invitational tournament aimed at providing competitive match experience during the FIFA window. Nigeria will first face the Iran on 27 March at the Amman International Stadium, before taking on the Jordan four days later. Costa Rica are also part of the competition but will not meet Nigeria.
The fixtures come at an important moment for the Super Eagles, who are attempting to rebuild rhythm after finishing third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where their last outing came against the Egypt national football team in the bronze-medal match.

Unlike their opponents Iran and Jordan, who have already secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria missed out on the tournament. The Nigeria Football Federation continues to explore possible legal avenues linked to the qualifying process, although the immediate focus remains on improving performances on the pitch.
Chelle, whose future has attracted attention amid reported interest from Olympique de Marseille and FC Nantes, is still firmly in charge and expected to rely largely on players who impressed during Nigeria’s AFCON campaign.
However, strong performances by several Nigerian footballers across Europe could open the door for new call-ups, as the coach looks to balance continuity with fresh energy. The March friendlies are seen within the national setup as the first step toward building a competitive squad ahead of qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
