Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are keen on making a potential move for Super Eagles and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman in the ongoing January transfer window, Footynaija.com reports.
Lookman’s future at Atalanta has been a hot topic of debate since the summer transfer when the Nigeria international tried to force a move away from Bergamo after falling out with the club’s hierarchy.
The Super Eagles star began the season as an outcast but has now played his way back into the good graces of the Atalanta faithful, featuring prominently in six of La Dea’s last seven games before his departure for the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria.

Despite this, Lookman continues to attract interest from all across Europe suggesting a winter move could be on the cards. According to Sport Mediaset journalist Orazio Accomando, Fenerbahce are ready to propose a €5 million loan, with a potential obligation to make the move permanent for €37 million.
Although talks are still at an early stage, the Turkish heavyweights have reportedly identified the Super Eagles forward as a priority target as they look to bolster their attacking options. Atalanta, however, are understood to be in favour of a permanent transfer.
Any real progress in negotiations will likely depend on whether Fenerbahce are willing to tweak their offer into a permanent purchase or include an obligation to buy tied to achievable conditions.
For now, discussions have yet to reach an advanced stage, but the Istanbul club’s readiness to commit significant funds suggests this is a situation that could develop rapidly in the coming days.

Lookman is currently enjoying scintillating form at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco where he has registered seven goal contributions (3G, 4A) in just four matches for the Super Eagles.
