As Nigeria’s Super Eagles prepare for their toughest test of the tournament, Unified Nigerian Supporters Club Chairman Vincent Okumagba has declared the semi-final clash with the Atlas Lions as the real final of the competition. Footynaija.com reports.

Nigeria are chasing a fourth continental title. Morocco, on the other hand, backed by home support and familiar conditions, are aiming to turn this tournament into a national celebration.

Speaking upon arrival in Rabat on Monday, Okumagba emphasised the magnitude of the fixture, stressing that the clash with the host nation would challenge the Super Eagles both on the pitch and in the stands.

“This semi final against Morocco is the final before the final, and every Nigerian here in Morocco must be ready to offer strong support for the team,” he told The Guardian.

“Whether you are a member of the supporters club or a Nigerian in the diaspora, the team needs a strong support base inside the stadium in Rabat.”

Okumagba believes that the situation makes the atmosphere inside Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium just as important as what happens between the white lines.

“In confronting the host, we are aware of the huge task ahead in this semi final,” he continued.

“The Moroccans will have the crowd as their 12th player, but I believe that Nigeria have a way of caging their hosts with our drums and trumpets.”

It is a familiar sight whenever Nigeria take the big stage: the green and white colours, the beats, and the chants that echo across the stands. For years, the supporters have travelled in large numbers, turning foreign stadiums into temporary homes.

However, the challenge feels different this time around as Morocco are organised, confident and playing in front of their own fans. Yet Okumagba believes the Super Eagles feed off that pressure.
