Victor Osimhen believes the Super Eagles have so much more to offer in the future after their impressive 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Morocco, where they achieved a third place finish, Footynaija.com reports.
Despite falling short of reaching the final, the Super Eagles won many hearts, both at home and abroad, after firmly establishing themselves as one of the standout teams of the tournament courtesy of their free-flowing style of play.
Throughout the course of the tournament, the Super Eagles players earned plaudits for their intensity and application during matches while head coach Eric Chelle also attracted praises for finding a way to strike the right balance in his star-studded squad.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s run at the tournament, Osimhen revealed the crucial factor driving this crop of Super Eagles players while also suggesting that Nigeria is yet to see the best of the national team under Chelle’s reign.

“The togetherness in this team is one of the very best I’ve seen since I came into the Super Eagles,” Osimhen told TVC in a recent interview.
“I know with this coach going forward, there’s even greater things to come from this team. For me, I like this team and I like the spirit everyone is carrying on and off the pitch.
“We’re like brothers so for me it’s a great privilege for me to be among this crop of Eagles. So just like I said earlier, there’s really more to come and I’m really happy to be one of the leaders.”
Osimhen also had huge words of praise for Super Eagles head coach Chelle. The Galatasaray striker did not mince his words when extolling the qualities of his Franco-Malian boss.

“We know the coach is very demanding, so every player is ready to give their blood for him. He’s also a very amazing person, a loving man and I really like him a lot, the way he thinks, his mentality as well.
“He pushes us to the hardest in training and before every game, he comes and embraces the players, laughs with the players and also his coaching staff. For me, what awaits this team in the future is greatness and we are on the right path to achieve it.”
Following Nigeria’s impressive outing at the Africa Cup of Nations, the top brass of the nation’s football governing body have backed Chelle for a long-term reign in charge of the Super Eagles.
