Inter Milan have emerged as leading admirers of Fulham defender Calvin Bassey, with the Nigeria international attracting growing interest from Serie A following his impressive Africa Cup of Nations campaign, footynaija.com reports.
The 26-year-old has been one of the Super Eagles’ standout performers at AFCON 2025 and remains one of Fulham’s most reliable players since his £19m move from Ajax in 2023. His physical presence, versatility and comfort on the ball have made him a key figure under Marco Silva.
Serie A giants Inter Milan are also impressed with these Bassey attributes and qualities, according to TEAMtalk.
Inter’s interest is understood to be part of their search for defensive reinforcements as they compete on both domestic and European fronts. Other Italian clubs are also believed to be monitoring Bassey’s situation.
However, Fulham have no intention of selling the former Rangers defender in January. Club sources insist he remains central to their plans as they push for a strong Premier League finish.
Bassey is currently away on AFCON duty alongside teammates Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze, where he has powered Nigeria to the quarter-finals. The former Leicester City defender has featured in all of Nigeria’s wins against Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, and Mozambique.
With a contract running until 2027, plus an option for another year, Fulham are in a strong negotiating position. Any potential move is expected to be discussed in the summer rather than this winter.
