FC Porto have moved to strengthen their attack by agreeing a deal with OGC Nice for Nigeria striker Terem Moffi, a transfer that offers the forward an opportunity to reset his season after a difficult spell in France, footynaija.com reports.
The Portuguese club have settled on a loan arrangement that includes a non-compulsory option to buy, reported to be in the region of €8m.
Moffi is expected to travel to Portugal to undergo a medical and complete the paperwork, with respected transfer insider Fabrice Hawkins indicating that the agreement between the two clubs is already in place.
Porto’s move brings an end to weeks of uncertainty around the 26-year-old’s future. He had attracted interest from several clubs, with Turkey’s Besiktas among those prepared to offer better financial terms. There was also attention from teams in France and Scotland, but Moffi chose Porto, persuaded by the club’s sporting plans and the presence of coach Francesco Farioli, who knows him well from their time in Ligue 1.
The switch also closes a troubled period for Moffi at Nice. Moffi has not featured since 30 November, when a defeat at Lorient was followed by ugly scenes involving supporters. He was subsequently left out of the first-team set-up and has been seeking a way out ever since.
His form had dipped, with just two goals in 10 league matches this season, a sharp contrast to the previous campaign when he finished as Nice’s leading scorer with 11. At international level, Moffi remains an established Super Eagles player, having made his debut in 2021 and scored twice in a 10–0 win over São Tomé and Príncipe in 2022.
Porto now offer him a timely chance to rebuild confidence and rediscover his best form.
