Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has chosen to keep his tactical plans under wraps ahead of the Super Eagles’ Group C clash with Tunisia at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Footynaija.com reports.
Nigeria face Tunisia on matchday two with both teams coming off opening-day victories, and while the Super Eagles are ranked just one place higher in the FIFA standings, a closely contested encounter is expected between the former champions.
Nigeria opened their campaign with a 2-1 win over Tanzania, lining up in a 4-4-2 system that prioritised possession and control. However, Chelle has hinted that Tunisia’s quality could prompt a change in approach.
At his pre-match press conference, Chelle said, “Tunisia is a good team, I can’t reveal my plans yet. We will keep to our philosophy and we will check if we will need to change something in the line-up.
“I have two things in mind, to give the ball to Tunisia or continue my philosophy but I can’t tell you which I will go with because Tunisia are a great team.”
Nigeria are expected to switch to a 4-3-3, with Wilfred Ndidi anchoring midfield, Alex Iwobi controlling tempo and Ademola Lookman operating in advanced central areas. Victor Osimhen is set to lead the line, supported by pace in wide positions.
Tunisia arrive confident after beating Uganda 3–1, their first AFCON opening-game win since 2013, and are chasing successive victories over Nigeria for the first time. With both teams in form and history adding extra edge, the fixture has the feel of an early knockout tie.
