Former Super Falcons goalkeeper Precious Dede has been appointed Women’s Football Development Manager for the West Africa Football Union Zone B (WAFU-B), Footynaija.com reports.
Dede, one of Africa’s most decorated goalkeepers, begins her role immediately.
Her leadership qualities, international pedigree, and deep understanding of elite performance make her an ideal fit for a position central to its long-term development strategy.
Across a career spanning nearly two decades, Dede won two African Women’s Championship titles, earned 99 caps for Nigeria, and represented the country at four FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments and three Olympic Games. At club level, she played for Delta Queens, Ibom Queens and Norway’s Arna-Bjørnar before retiring in 2016.
WAFU-B’s appointment places her at the heart of efforts to expand youth pathways, modernise coaching standards, and strengthen visibility for women’s football across West Africa. She will also help shape competition models and build technical capacity across member nations.
Dede, who currently serves as Assistant Coach of the Nigeria U-17 women’s team, joins the role at a moment when the region is refining its women’s football blueprint ahead of the next competitive cycle.
Her arrival is widely seen as an important milestone for Nigerian football and a positive signal for the wider growth of the women’s game in the region.
