Nigeria’s Super Eagles will converge in Rabat, Morocco, on November 9 ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoff opener against Gabon on November 13, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed, Footynaija.com reports.
The NFF revealed that all invited players are expected to arrive five days before kick-off to acclimatise and finalise tactical preparations.
The winner of the Gabon tie will face either Cameroon or Congo DR in the final on November 16, with Africa’s slot in the inter-confederation playoff at stake next March.
A senior NFF source disclosed that the list of invited players will be made public later this month. The Federation also confirmed that Coach Eric Chelle has submitted his detailed training and match programme, and official invitation letters will be sent “any time soon.”
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau has also expressed optimism that Nigeria will triumph in Morocco, insisting that preparations are already in full swing.
“We are aware of our opponents and the venue, and as I’m talking to you, preparations have already started,” Gusau said. He praised the squad’s determination, noting that qualification means more to the players than ever before.
Gusau added that the Federal Government and relevant authorities are fully backing the national team, ensuring all logistical and technical needs are met ahead of the decisive playoff.
