Wilfred Ndidi has opened his goalscoring account for Besiktas, joining a select list of Nigerians to have found the net for the Turkish giants, Footynaija.com reports.
The Super Eagles midfielder struck in the 21st minute to set Besiktas on their way to a 2-0 away victory over Konyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig.
Rising highest to meet a corner, Ndidi’s precise header gave the visitors a deserved lead before Tammy Abraham added a second to seal Besiktas’ first away win since September 24.
Ndidi’s goal marks his first for the club since arriving from Leicester City in the summer and places him among an exclusive group of Nigerian players to have scored for Besiktas. He becomes only the fourth Nigerian to achieve the feat, following in the footsteps of Daniel Amokachi, Christopher Ohenhen, and Michael Eneramo.
Amokachi remains the most prolific of the group, netting 25 goals in 112 appearances. Ohenhen scored ten, while Eneramo managed one in seven games.
Ndidi, recently named vice-captain, now joins that proud lineage as Besiktas rise to sixth in the standings, three points behind third-placed Fenerbahçe.
The Istanbul side will next host Kasimpasa on October 26.
