Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira was pleased with Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare’s super-sub display in their 2-0 victory over Everton in the third round of the Carabao Cup, Footynaija.com reports.
Arokodare, who entered the fray with 68 minutes on the clock to replace Jorgen Strand Larsen, went on to make a decisive impact in the game twenty minutes later with his first goal since arriving at the Molineux.
With the game finely poised at 1-0 and Everton seriously pushing for an equalizer, the Super Eagles striker put the game beyond doubt when he latched onto a through ball from Joao Gomes in the 88th minute before cheekily jinking over Mark Travers.
Sharing his thoughts on Arokodare’s impact after the game, Wolves boss Pereira revealed the striker showed the kind of spirit he wants to see. He also expressed confidence that the Nigerian will contribute even more when he reaches his best levels.
“When we are expecting a strong shot on the goal, because he has the confidence in himself,” Pereira said, per quotes on Wolves’ official website.
“Of course, he is not in his shape physically speaking. Larsen today worked a lot for the team, and after Tolu went inside and he helped us. This is the spirit that I want to see.
“Tolu came in the moment that we didn’t have Jorgen to play. The plan was not to play with him 90 minutes, the plan was to give him time to adapt and to start getting minutes. He needs to work hard to get his condition, and he will help us.”

Pereira will be hoping his team can take this momentum into the Premier League where they have suffered five straight defeats so far and sit rock-bottom of the league.
