Kano Pillars, Ikorodu City and Plateau United finally broke their winless streaks in the Nigeria Premier Football League as both sides registered crucial victories on Sunday, Footynaija.com reports.
In Lagos, Ikorodu City secured their first win of the 2025/26 season, edging Barau FC 2-0.
The Oga Boys, who impressed last campaign but had stumbled in their opening fixtures, left it late as substitutes Joseph Arumala and Taiwo Cole struck to seal all three points. Their defensive resilience also stood out, with the club chalking up a third clean sheet in four matches.
At the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United stunned reigning champions Remo Stars with a statement 2-0 triumph.
Tarabina Biweribo opened the scoring before substitute Mafeng Pam doubled the lead in the second half. Remo’s night went from bad to worse when defender Stanley Joseph was shown a red card late on.
Elsewhere, newly-promoted Kun Khalifat registered their maiden NPFL win by defeating Elkanemi Warriors 3-1 in Aba, thanks to a brace from Ebuka Nwokorie and a goal from Onuorah Onyedika. Ebuka Okoro netted the consolation for the visitors.
In Kano, returning Super Eagles legend Ahmed Musa rolled back the years, scoring the decisive goal in Kano Pillars’ 1-0 victory over Rangers.
It was Pillars’ first win of the campaign.
