Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu stole the headlines in Turkey on Saturday evening after delivering a moment of sheer brilliance to help Trabzonspor edge a pulsating 4-3 victory over Fatih Karagumruk in the Super Lig, Footynaija.com reports.
The Nigerian forward bagged a brace at the Ataturk Olimpiyat Stadyumu, but it was his first strike that really wowed everyone watching.
With the score level at 1-1 in the 35th minute, Onuachu reacted instinctively to a Wagner Pina cross, producing a stunning overhead kick that flew past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. The audacious effort immediately drew comparisons to some of the most spectacular goals of the season.
Asked afterward if it ranked as his best for Trabzonspor, Onuachu hesitated, pointing instead to another spectacular effort, his Puskas-nominated strike against Konyaspor during his loan spell at the club in 2023/2024.

“I watched the goal I scored again. It’s good that you reminded me, I also remembered the goal I scored against Konyaspor,” he told Canli Skor.
“I need to look at both of them, but I can say that the goal I scored against Konyaspor is better than the goal I scored today.
“If I had to describe the goal, it was an instinctive one because I had to make a decision. It was a split-second call, and thankfully it was the right one. It was a good shot, and a good goal.”
With Saturday’s double, Onuachu took his tally for the season to five goals, placing him joint top of the scorers’ chart alongside Galatasaray’s Mauro Icardi.
Whether Saturday’s effort tops his Konyaspor stunner is up for debate, but what’s clear is that Onuachu continues to thrive as Trabzonspor’s talisman, delivering big moments when his side needs them most.
