Arsenal have completed the signing of highly-rated teenager Mishel Nduka from Charlton Athletic, securing the services of one of the brightest Nigerian-rooted prospects in English football, Footynaija.com reports.
The 15-year-old midfielder, who had spent close to a decade in Charlton’s academy, will now continue his development at Hale End where he is expected to feature for the Gunners’ U16 squad with an eye on progressing quickly into the U18s.
Six Sports reports that Arsenal beat off competition from Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers to land his signature.
Nduka’s switch comes at a time when Arsenal are doubling down on strengthening their youth ranks, particularly in midfield. The youngster had already caught attention after making appearances for Charlton’s U18s at just 15, while also being involved in England’s U15 training camps.
His ability to dictate tempo, technical control, and creativity in tight spaces made him one of the most sought-after teenagers in the country, with his Nigerian eligibility adding further intrigue about his international future.
After the move was completed, Nduka confirmed his exit from Charlton with an emotional message on social media. “After 8 years at Charlton Athletic FC, my time with the club has come to an end,” the teenager posted via Instagram.
“A huge thank you to my family and the staff at Charlton who have guided me along my journey. Charlton will always have a special place in my heart. On to the next chapter!” he added.
The midfielder’s arrival at Hale End continues a growing trend of young players of Nigerian descent breaking into elite setups across Europe.
Only recently, Alvin Obinna Okoro’s emergence in Italy saw Juventus and Inter Milan engage in a battle for his services, while Inter were also keen to recall Ebenezer Akinsanmiro from Sampdoria ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
In England, Ife Ibrahim, another English-born Nigerian prospect, spoke glowingly of Arsenal captain Declan Rice after training with the senior side.
