Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will head out of Abuja on Sunday as they step up final preparations for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, Footynaija.com reports.

The seven-time African champions will hold a two-week training camp in South America before opening their Group D campaign against Norway on Monday, September 29.

Their other group fixtures pit them against Saudi Arabia and Colombia in what promises to be a competitive section.

Head coach Aliyu Zubairu is set to trim his provisional list down to 21 players on Friday, September 19. Officials revealed that a number of Europe-based players who make the cut will link up with the squad along the way, boosting the team with added international experience.

Nigeria last featured at the 2023 edition in Argentina, where they reached the quarterfinals before bowing out, beating the hosts en route.

The current squad is determined to go beyond that stage, with hopes high that the blend of homegrown prospects and overseas professionals will give them the edge this time around.

The Flying Eagles will be looking to make a strong start against Norway before turning their attention to Saudi Arabia and then Colombia, matches that could define their path in the competition. Confidence remains high within the camp that Nigeria can mount a serious challenge in Chile.
