Crystal Palace have secured the loan signing of Nigerian forward Christantus Uche from Getafe until the end of the season, Footynaija.com reports.
The 22-year-old arrives as a direct replacement for Eberechi Eze, who left for Arsenal last week, and manager Oliver Glasner sees him as a crucial addition ahead of a demanding Premier League campaign.
Palace beat off competition from Aston Villa and Sunderland to land Uche, who had also come close to joining Wolves before talks collapsed late on. He will wear the No 12 shirt at Selhurst Park.
Originally a central defender, Uche was pushed into midfield before finally establishing himself as a striker in Spain. His breakthrough season at Getafe saw him score four goals and provide six assists, helping the club avoid relegation. He has already opened this campaign brightly, with a goal and an assist in their win over Celta Vigo.
His move makes him the sixth Nigerian to play for Palace, following Victor Moses, Shola Ameobi, George Ndah, Dele Adebola and Ade Akinbiyi.
After signing his contract, Uche said: “This moment is unbelievable. I’m very lucky to be here today and this club is a big opportunity for me.”

Uche’s arrival is also timely for Nigeria. He is set to fly directly to Uyo to join the Super Eagles ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa in early September.
Palace, who have also brought in Yeremi Pino, now see Uche as part of a rebuilt attack as Glasner reshapes his squad for the season ahead.
