Atalanta manager Ivan Juric has confirmed that Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman will not be ready to play a part for La Dea in Sunday’s Serie A clash against Lecce, Footynaija.com reports.
Recent reports have suggested that Atalanta and the Nigeria international could be set to sheath their swords and put the drama of this summer’s transfer window behind them. The reports claimed that Lookman was set to return to team training and could be in contention for his first appearance of the 2025/2026 season.
However, it appears that the Super Eagles forward remains on the fringes in Bergamo as head coach Juric ruled out his participation in Atalanta’s upcoming game against Lecce. Juric went on to share his thoughts about the way things transpired this summer, describing the situation as an “unpleasant” one.

“Ademola will not be ready for tomorrow,” Juric was quoted by TMW.
“A truly unpleasant and difficult situation,” he continued, referring to the summer transfer saga “As a coach, I felt that we needed other things: Spirit, humility, passion for the shirt. We need to do better and also take responsibility. You need a sense of belonging.”
Juric’s comments echoe the lingering tension between Lookman and the Italian club despite claims that a resolution was on the horizon. The coming weeks may bring some changes to the situation but for now, Africa’s best player remains sidelined in Bergamo.
Atalanta, who are still seeking a first win of the Serie A season, will be desperate to grab all three points when Lecce rock up to the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday.
