Enyimba FC head coach Stanley Eguma has set clear targets for the nine-time Nigeria Professional Football League champions as they head into the 2025/2026 season, Footynaija.com reports.

Eguma will be overseeing his first full season as head coach of Enyimba, having only taken charge of the club for the second half of the 2024/2025 season.

In what turned out to be an impressive salvage mission, he guided the Aba Warriors from the bottom half of the NPFL table to a sixth place finish and narrowly missed out on securing continental football.

Going into the new season, the former Rivers United boss is looking to build on the momentum of those impressive first few months by leading Eyimba to a 10th NPFL triumph, or in the worst case scenario, qualifying for continental football.

Stanley Eguma sets target for new NPFL season

“Enyimba as a team have a target, and as a coach, an ambitious one at that, I equally have a target,” he stated in quotes revealed by the club’s official website. “And my target should be to win the league or pick a continental ticket, at worst.

“Having achieved that in the past, I think I should be looking at something that will surpass my achievement. And that is what the Club is looking at achieving as well.

“Remember, we’re 9-time champions of the NPFL and 2-time African champions. I think anything short of that would not be a good achievement.

“So, the Club are also looking at surpassing their previous performance. Of course, we have to achieve that collectively. That’s the target that I have.

“Before the management will set a target for me, I’ve already set one for myself, because I’m very ambitious, and I feel I have a lot to offer.”

A vastly experienced coach, Eguma tasted NPFL glory twice during his time at Rivers United. The 55-year-old tactician will now look to replicate that feat with Enyimba, who kick off the 25/26 campaign with a game against newly-promoted Barau FC.
