Player Ratings: How Super Eagles B collapsed 4-0 to Sudan at CHAN 2025

Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles suffered a brutal 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Sudan on Tuesday night, crashing out of CHAN 2025 with a game to spare, Footynaija.com reports.

Eric Chelle’s men, already under pressure after losing to Senegal in their opener, were ripped apart in Zanzibar as the Falcons of Jediane booked their place in the knockout stages.

Abdel Raouf Yagoub inspired Sudan’s onslaught, forcing an early own goal from Leonard Ngenge in the 25th minute and winning a penalty that Walieldin Khdir converted just before half-time. The winger then struck twice after the break to complete Nigeria’s humiliation, leaving the CHAN Eagles bottom of Group D with zero points and no goals scored.

Below are the player ratings from the defeat, using Sofascore data and on-field observations:

Goalkeeper

16. Mustapha Lawal – 6.0
Beaten four times but spared further embarrassment with a couple of strong saves. Could do little about the defensive chaos in front of him.

Defenders

13. Taiwo Abdulrafiu – 5.8

Caught out repeatedly on his flank. Struggled to contain Sudan’s wing play and offered little in attack.

5. Leonard Ngenge – 5.2

Night to forget. Scored the own goal, conceded the penalty, and was hooked at half-time.

4. Nduka Junior (c) – 6.2

Showed leadership in trying to rally his teammates but couldn’t hold the backline together. Outpaced and outnumbered.

11. Ismaila Sodiq – 6.4

Tried to offer width going forward but was often pinned back. Defensively overrun by Sudan’s quick transitions.

Midfielders

10. Olamilekan Adedayo – 6.8

Worked hard down the flank, pressing and tracking back. Needed more support to turn his runs into chances.

17. Raymond Tochukwu – 7.2

The only consistent spark. Battled in midfield, broke up play, and tried to link attack with defence.

8. Taofeek Otaniyi – 6.2

Had brief moments of control in midfield but couldn’t influence proceedings enough before coming off.

Forwards

15. Anthony Ljoma – 6.1

Thought he’d put Nigeria ahead with a disallowed goal. Worked hard but got little service.

18. Hadi Haruna – 6.2

Neat touches early on but faded before being subbed at half-time.

19. Alimi Sikiru – 6.1

Tried to stretch Sudan’s defence but had minimal impact in the final third.

Substitutes

6. Stephen Manyo – 6.0

More composed at centre-back but the damage was already underway.

7. Jabbar Malik – 6.2

Provided energy in midfield before making way.

22. Vincent Temitope – 6.5

Looked positive, tried to carry the ball forward, but couldn’t spark a comeback.

2. Qudus Akanni – 6.6

Added some bite late on but had little time to change the narrative.

21. Shola Adelani – 6.4

Yellow-carded cameo with few chances to shine.
