Ahmed Musa has publicly addressed the viral reports claiming he gave out luxury cars to players and officials of Kano Pillars Football Club, shortly after taking up his new role as General Manager, Footynaija.com reports.
The Super Eagles captain dismissed the rumour as “entirely untrue.” He insisted he never handed out any vehicles, and urged media outlets, fans, and individuals on social media to stop spreading false stories without verification.
“It has come to my attention that false information is being circulated claiming that I distributed cars to players and officials following my appointment as General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club,” Musa posted on his verified account on X. “This claim is entirely untrue.”
He went further to emphasise the damaging effects of misinformation.
“Spreading unverified news not only misleads the public but also undermines the integrity of the club and its leadership,” the 32-year-old said.
“I urge the public, media outlets, and individuals on social media to verify information from credible sources before sharing.”
Musa took over as General Manager of Kano Pillars on July 7. His appointment made headlines across Nigeria, as he took the helm at the club where he made his professional breakthrough over a decade ago. He has already begun overseeing player screening and pre-season plans ahead of the 2025–26 NPFL campaign.
A report, which first gained traction on Facebook and other social media platforms, had earlier claimed that the former Leicester City and Al Nassr forward gifted brand-new Land Cruisers to squad members as a welcome gesture. The rumour was quickly picked up by blogs and pages with no credible confirmation, prompting Musa’s public rebuttal.
