Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan have lodged an improved bid for Super Eagles and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, Footynaija.com reports.

Inter Milan and Atalanta have been locked in negotiations for the current African Player of the Year for a couple of weeks now, with a difference in valuation stalling progress in club to club discussions.

The Nerazurri saw their opening €40 million bid for Lookman immediately knocked back as La Dea took a firm stance on their €50 million valuation of the Nigeria international.

After days of internal deliberation, they have now approached Atalanta once again, this time, with an improved offer worth €45 million according to Inter FC News. 

The offer consists of €40 million to be paid in a lump sum with the extra €5 million coming in add-ons. However, Atalanta are believed to be insisting on their original valuation (€50 million) of the player.

This latest offer is reportedly Inter’s final throw of the dice in their drawn out pursuit of Lookman and the 20-time Serie A champions now await a response from La Dea.

While Atalanta are currently standing their ground, the Bergamo-based club are aware of Lookman’s desire to secure this transfer to San Siro with personal terms reportedly sorted.

It’s common knowledge that the 27-year-old forward already has his heart set on a move away from Bergamo and with Inter Milan unlikely to increase their offer any further, Atalanta may be forced to soften their stance.

For now, the 2023 Europa League winners are yet to respond to Inter’s new bid. However, the Nerazzurri are expecting feedback within the next couple of days.
