Bright Osayi-Samuel has made an emotional appeal to Turkish giants Beşiktaş to reconsider their decision to abandon his transfer, following reports that his father sabotaged the move by making an unexpected financial demand, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigerian defender, who this week left Fenerbahçe as a free agent, was set to join Beşiktaş on a three-year deal worth €1.9m per season.

However, the agreement reportedly fell through when his father, Nelson Osayi, allegedly contacted the club independently to request an additional €300,000 annually.

According to Turkish journalist Fatih Doğan via Sporx, Osayi-Samuel has since reached out to Beşiktaş to clear the air. “My father called without telling me and cancelled the transfer, I have no idea what happened. Let’s talk again,” he reportedly said.

However, club president Serdal Adalı is understood to have rejected the plea outright, ending all discussions with the 27-year-old and turning attention elsewhere.

Beşiktaş are now reportedly monitoring Premier League full-backs Kyle Walker-Peters of Southampton and Wolves’ Nelson Semedo as alternatives.

Meanwhile, Osayi-Samuel may still have a lifeline in England, with Birmingham City believed to be considering a move as they prepare for life in the Championship.

The former QPR man now faces a crucial summer window as he looks to rebuild momentum in his career following the collapse of what seemed a near-certain move to one of Turkey’s biggest clubs.
