Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman has rebuffed efforts from reigning Italian Serie A champions Napoli to secure his services ahead of the 2025/2026 season, Footynaija.com understands.

Lookman’s Atalanta future has been one of the most speculated topics of this summer transfer window, with several reports linking the Nigeria international with a potential move to numerous top clubs across Europe’s top five leagues.

With all indications pointing towards a certain departure from Bergamo for Lookman, the latest update as reported by FC Inter News claims Napoli have recently approached the Nigerian forward’s camp with the intention of discussing the possibility of a potential switch to Naples.

However, the reigning Serie A champions were met by an unreceptive entourage, with the current African Player of the Year solely focused on completing a summer transfer to San Siro where 20-time Scudetto winners Inter Milan await.

Inter recently tabled what is thought to represent a large portion of their summer transfer budget, a €40 million offer, to Atalanta. Meanwhile, they have reportedly reached a basic agreement with the player on a five-year contract worth about  €4.5 million, potentially rising to €5 million.

Despite already agreeing terms with Lookman, the Nerazzuri still have work to do to get the move over the line. Their €40 million offer is €10 million shy of Atalanta’s €50 million asking price and both clubs remain locked in negotiations.

It is generally expected that both clubs will reach some form of agreement in the coming days and finally bring an end to months of speculations surrounding Lookman’s future.
