Premier League and England legend Rio Ferdinand has shared his thoughts on Galatasaray’s recent attempt to pry prolific Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen off the hands of Napoli on a permanent basis, Footynaija.com reports.
Ferdinand has made little secret of his desire to see his former club Manchester United land the signature of Nigeria’s red-hot goal machine this summer but things have hardly gone the way the former defender would’ve liked.
Osimhen, who spent last season on a sensational loan spell with the Turkish champions, appears destined for a permanent return to the Super Lig ahead of next season.
Several news outlets, including Footynaija.com have reported in the last couple of days that the masked hitman has settled on a return to RAMS Park.
What Rio Ferdinand said about Victor Osimhen

For Ferdinand, who still dreams of seeing Osimhen in a United shirt, it’ll be a huge disappointment if Galatasaray pip the Red Devils to the Nigerian striker’s signature. Especially after getting wind of the Lions’ “peanut” £50 million bid.
“I’m like a broken record. If anyone listens to my podcast, I’ve said Osimhen for a while now,” the Manchester United legend told TalkSPORT.
“He’s a centre-forward, he’s experienced, he knows how to score goals at the top level. I’ve seen today that Galatasaray have put a £50m bid in.
“I mean, £50m to get a top-class striker, one of the top strikers in the world, is absolute peanuts in today’s market.

“I’ll be disappointed if he goes to Galatasaray for that type of money when Man United are crying out for a striker.
“I’ll be disappointed to miss out on Gyokeres if we don’t get a No.9 in, but if we got Osimhen, then I wouldn’t be too concerned.”
With Viktor Gyokeres reportedly prioritizing a move to Arsenal, Osimhen presents one of United’s more realistic chances of signing a world-class finisher this summer. At the moment though, chances of securing a deal for the Nigerian look slim.
