Experienced Super Falcons forward Francisca Ordega has revealed why she believes Nigeria will be successful at the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations that is set to take place in Morocco, Footynaija.com reports.
Over the years, the Super Falcons had established a reputation as the most dominant women’s national team in African football. But in recent times, they have struggled to live up to their historic continental reputation.
The 11-time WAFCON champions will be heading into this year’s tournament in Morocco, looking to make up for their sub-par performance in the 2022 edition of the competition which saw them finish without a place on the podium after losing 1-0 to an emerging Zambian team in the third-place playoffs.

With the tournament set to kick off on July 5, 2025, Ordega believes that despite the inclusion of some fresh faces for this year’s tournament, there is still a strong desire from the team to reclaim their perch on the summit of African women’s football.
“Everyone wants this title back,” the experienced Super Falcons forward told BBC Sport Africa.
“Most of these girls have not played (Wafcon) before and I think they really want to win. Everybody wants to make a name for themselves.”

While the Super Falcons certainly possess the quality within their ranks to succeed in Morocco, re-establishing their continental dominance which stretches back to the year 1991 when they won the inaugural edition, will be by no means an easy feat.
If their recent form, shown in preparatory games against Portugal and West African neighbours Ghana is anything to go by, then Justin Magudu’s side look set to enjoy a strong campaign in Morocco.
