Super Eagles boss Eric Chelle has unveiled a provisional 35-man squad ahead of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which kicks off next month across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, Footynaija.com reports.
The squad, a mix of local league stars and players with senior national team experience, features standout names such as Sodiq Ismaila, Papa Mustapha Daniel. Their inclusion comes after Nigeria’s CHAN team sealed qualification with a 3-1 aggregate win over fierce rivals Ghana.
Also making the list are Junior Nduka, Waliu Ojetoye, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, and Saviour Isaac — all of whom were part of the team that recently participated in the Unity Cup in London. Promising goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt, who shone at the U20 AFCON with the Flying Eagles, is also included, alongside NPFL top scorer Anas Yusuf.
Nigeria’s Eagles have been drawn in Group D of the 19-nation tournament and will battle defending champions Senegal, Congo, and Sudan. The CHAN Eagles begin their group campaign at Amman Stadium in Zanzibar against Senegal and Sudan, before heading to Dar es Salaam to face Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Nigeria were runners-up in the 2018 edition and will be hoping to go one better this time.
