Super Eagles attacker Ademola Lookman’s future has continued to generate a lot of speculation in the ongoing summer transfer window with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid reportedly “very interested” in signing the Atalanta forward, Footynaija.com reports.
Lookman looks increasingly poised to secure a move away from Atalanta this summer after enjoying three personally and collectively successful years in Bergamo. Despite his importance for La Dea over the last three seasons, the former Europa League champions appear to have no qualms about parting ways with the Nigeria international.
Over the last few weeks, several reports have linked the reigning Africa Player of the Year with a host of clubs including Atalanta’s Serie A rivals Juventus and Napoli. Lookman has also been reported to be eyeing a return to the Premier League with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest all linked to the 27-year-old at some point.
However, Italian football expert Matteo Moretto reports that Lookman is not keen on a return to England where he struggled in Fulham and Leicester City colours amid very strong interest in his signature from Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
What Matteo Moretto said about Ademola Lookman’s future

“Let’s talk now about Atalanta and in particular Ademola Lookman, the protagonist of an excellent season,” Moretto said in quotes revealed by Calcio Atalanta.
“I’ll give you two indications: the first concerns the price, with Atalanta valuing Lookman at around 50 million euros. It is therefore a significant figure and it will be interesting to see who will be willing to invest this sum for the offensive winger.
“Atletico Madrid is very interested and continues to carefully monitor the situation, considering that, after the Ruggeri operation, contacts between the two clubs have resumed and interesting scenarios could open up. Furthermore, the player would not like to return to the Premier League, but a lot will depend on the offers that arrive.”

Whether Atletico Madrid will be willing to meet Atalanta’s asking price for Lookman remains to be seen. The Nigeria international will be itching to sort out his future as soon as possible to afford himself some time to settle down before the new season kicks off.
