Former Super Eagles forward, Victor Obinna has shared his thoughts ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against Russia, set for Friday June 6, at the iconic Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Footynaija.com reports.
Obinna, who played in Russia for Lokomotiv Moscow between 2011 and 2014, spoke to Russian outlet Championat, where he praised the current Nigerian squad while also urging caution.
The former Inter Milan and West Ham striker said the Super Eagles must treat the clash seriously, warning that Russia will pose a solid challenge.

“The current Nigerian team is a good team with a lot of good players, especially forwards,” Obinna said, as revealed in a report by Daily Post.
“Of course, I’ll watch the Russia-Nigeria match. I think it will be a very good test for both teams. People in Nigeria are expecting a very good game because we’re facing a strong opponent.”
For Obinna, the friendly against Russia is more than just a game. The forward spent four seasons in Moscow and lifted the Russian Cup with Lokomotiv, scoring 13 goals during his time there.
His return to discuss Nigerian football in the Russian media has sparked interest among local fans and added more attention to the friendly.
The Russian national team, despite being banned from UEFA competitions, remains competitive and has been active in friendly matches.
Having played other friendly matches earlier this year, their physical playing style and organised structure are expected to test Nigeria’s technical ability and fitness.
Fans will be hoping for an impressive showing in Moscow as Eric Chelle continues to shape his squad.
