Versatile Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has officially decided to bring an end to his stint with Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce after the expiration of his contract this summer, Footynaija.com reports.
Osayi-Samuel joined Fenerbahce from Queens Park Rangers in the 2020/2021 winter transfer window. Since then, the Nigerian full-back made 178 appearances for the Yellow Canaries, scoring seven goals and registering five assists.
After almost four years of donning Fenerbahce’s yellow and navy blue stripes, Osayi-Samuel is poised to depart as a free agent when his contract expires later this month following the club’s failure to offer him a contract extension.
A report by popular Nigerian sports journalist Buchi Laba reveals that the Nigeria international has formally informed the Fenerbahce hierarchy of his desire to pursue a new challenge elsewhere come next season.

Bright Osayi-Samuel eyes England return

Buchi Laba’s report also claims the 27-year-old right-back is prioritizing a move to England where he previously played for the likes of Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers in the lower divisions.
Despite his preference for a return to English football, it is understood that Osayi-Samuel is not averse to joining another team in Turkey despite reportedly turning down two Super Lig suitors already.
At the time of writing, there aren’t any known English clubs that have expressed interest in securing Osayi-Samuel’s services ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign.

However, with the 27-year-old’s obvious talent, the value he can bring to teams and the fact that he’s available on a free transfer, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before the suitors start making their moves.
