Tolu Arokodare has been named in the 2024–25 Belgian Pro League Team of the Season, underlining his standout performances for Genk, Footynaija.com reports.
The 24-year-old striker finished as the league’s top scorer with 21 goals and also claimed the prestigious Ebony Shoe, awarded to the best African player in Belgium. His prolific form earned him the central striker role in the league’s Best XI, released on Wednesday.

Arokodare’s selection was based on a combination of player votes and Opta’s performance metrics. His inclusion was further boosted by his dominant away form — 11 of his 21 league goals came on the road — giving him the edge in the Golden Boot race over STVV’s Adriano Bertaccini.
Internationally, Arokodare made headlines for Nigeria when he came off the bench to score in a friendly against Russia, rescuing a draw and preserving the Super Eagles’ unbeaten run under coach Eric Chelle.
Despite Genk’s Play-Off struggles, Arokodare’s overall campaign — 21 goals, six assists in 40 appearances — highlighted his clinical edge and physical presence. He joins teammate Zakaria El Ouahdi in the Team of the Season, with Club Brugge contributing five players to the lineup.
