Gyokeres, Isak or Osimhen? – Former Arsenal captain issues verdict on ideal Mikel Arteta striker
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Former France and Arsenal defender William Gallas has singled one out of Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak and Victor Osimhen as the ideal striker to deliver an elusive Premier League triumph for the Gunners next season, Footynaija.com reports.

Gyokeres, Isak and Osimhen are three of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe at the moment. The lethal trio combined, boast a jaw-dropping tally of 118 goals in 135 appearances from last season alone.

Gyokeres plundered 54 goals in 52 appearances for Sporting, firing the Lisbon giants to a domestic double. While Isak, who had a far less prolific impact notched 27 goals in 42 appearances to help Newcastle United win the EFL Cup.

As for Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker enjoyed a wonderful loan spell with Galatasaray. He bagged 37 goals in 41 outings to deliver a first domestic double in six years to the Lions of RAMS Park.

With the summer transfer window already open and all three of these strikers mooted to be potential striking targets for Arsenal, Gallas, who played 142 games for the Gunners, believes Isak is the player that can lead his former team to PL glory.

What Gallas said about Gyokeres, Isak and Osimhen

“Victor Osimhen is a top class striker but I could see him clashing with Mikel Arteta,” Gallas told Prime Casino.

“Viktor Gyokeres would be a better fit, but Arsenal have to win the Premier League next season which means they need to sign Alexander Isak.

“Isak is perfect for Arsenal and they should be going all out to sign him. He would adapt instantly and give them the best chance of winning the title out of any player in the world, they don’t have time to let a striker adapt.

“Arsenal should go and break the bank for Isak. He is a 20 goal a season striker and he would be surrounding himself with quality players. Isak wouldn’t be cheap so it’s up to the board, but he is guaranteed goals.”

Whether Gyokeres, Isak or Osimhen, Arsenal simply cannot afford to go into the 2025/2026 campaign without an out-and-out number nine.

Despite Gallas’ take, there’s no doubt that any one of the aforementioned trio will significantly improve the Gunners’ output in attack.
