Kevin Maussi Martins, the 20-year-old son of former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins, is gradually rising through the ranks in Italian football, Footynaija.com reports.

Born in Milan on 31 January 2005, Kevin plays in Serie B for AC Monza, and he is already attracting attention from both Nigeria and Italy.

His father, Obafemi Martins, scored goals for fun in Serie A, La Liga, the Premier League, and with the Super Eagles. His mother, Abigail Barwuah, is the sister of Italy international Mario Balotelli.

With Nigerian roots from his father, Italian nationality by birth, and Ghanaian connections from his mother, Kevin holds eligibility to represent three countries internationally. So far, he has featured for Italy’s U15 national team, scoring one goal in three appearances.

Kevin started his football journey at the AC Milan academy before switching to Inter Milan’s youth setup in 2018. He remained at Inter for nearly five years, developing his game as a creative winger with pace and sharp dribbling ability.

In January 2023, he joined Monza and quickly caught the attention of the club’s technical staff. Eight months after signing for Monza, he made his senior debut in a Coppa Italia clash against Brescia on 26 September 2024. He played the full match and made an instant impact with an assist that helped Monza win 3–1.

Shortly after, he made his Serie A debut against Parma, and once again provided an assist, showing his ability to perform at the top level. That assist came exactly 19 years and 7 days after his father last registered an assist in Serie A.

Kevin wears the number 55 shirt for Monza and plays mostly as a right winger or second striker. Standing around 1.80 metres tall, he featured in nine Serie A matches and two Coppa Italia games during the 2024-2025 season.

Across all competitions, he has recorded four assists, and Italian media have praised his sharp footwork and ability to break through tight defences.

Kevin’s international future remains open. While he has already played for Italy at youth level, he has not yet made any senior appearances.

Reports indicate that the Nigerian Football Federation is monitoring him closely, and even his father has voiced support for a Super Eagles future, saying, “I hope he chooses Nigeria. He is half Nigerian.” That door remains open.
