AS Roma are exploring a summer move for former Chelsea midfielder Faustino Anjorin, with the Serie A side considering a player-plus-cash offer to lure the 23-year-old away from relegated Empoli, Footynaija.com reports.
According to Forza Roma, the Giallorossi are willing to include returning loanees Luigi Cherubini and Jan Oliveras in a potential deal, with Empoli valuing Anjorin at around €10 million.
Chelsea, who sold Anjorin to Empoli in August 2024, inserted a sell-on clause in the deal and could receive a financial windfall if Roma’s interest materialises.
Anjorin, whose contract with Empoli runs until June 2027, played a key role in the final stretch of the 2024–25 Serie A season after recovering from a thigh injury. He scored twice in five matches, but his contributions were not enough to save Empoli from relegation.
Over the course of the campaign, the versatile midfielder registered five goal involvements in 22 league appearances.
Born in England but of Nigerian descent, Anjorin represented England at youth level but remains eligible to play for Nigeria. Reports suggest the midfielder is open to a switch of allegiance and is being considered by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Anjorin previously spent loan spells at Lokomotiv Moscow, Huddersfield Town, and Portsmouth while developing at Chelsea’s academy.
