Victor Osimhen’s potential summer transfer move has taken a new dimension with fresh reports claiming the sensational Super Eagles striker is now holding out for a move to Liverpool, Footynaija.com reports.

Osimhen has been at the center of unending transfer speculations courtesy of his incredible loan spell with Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray.

The 25-year-old had many admirers before he left Serie A’s Scudetto hopefuls Napoli for the Super Lig giants. After an absolutely fantastic season that has seen him bag 36 goals in 40 matches, the Nigerian marksman’s stocks have risen even further.

Of Osimhen’s numerous suitors, Chelsea stands out as a long time admirer. The Blues agreed a fee with Napoli last summer but failed to finalize a deal for the Nigerian striker after failing to meet his salary demands.

Osimhen’s compatriot John Mikel Obi, who also happens to be a former Chelsea player, has been the biggest advocate for a link up between both parties. Mikel even claimed in the past that a move to West London is Osimhen’s long-standing dream.

FIFA licensed Turkish agent Mithat Halis agrees that the Nigeria international is currently prioritizing a move to England, however, Halis believes Osimhen’s preferred destination is reigning Premier League champions Liverpool and not Chelsea.

What Mithat Halis said about Victor Osimhen

“Liverpool is now the first choice in England for every successful footballer like Osimhen,” Halis said in quotes revealed by habersarikirmizi.

“Former footballer Obi Mikel wants to take him to Chelsea. It is possible, they can make it happen because Chelsea has a very high payment power.

“But if Osimhen is not going to stay at Galatasaray, he wants to play at Liverpool in Europe.”

The amount of substance Mithat Halis’ claim remains uncertain at this point. However, what is certain is that Osimhen’s next destination will continue to be a hot topic as we approach the summer transfer window.
