KRC Genk manager Thorsten Fink has resigned himself to the growing possibility of Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare’s departure from the Cegeka Arena this summer, following an outstanding personal campaign, Footynaija.com reports.
Arokodare has been a standout performer in the Belgian Pro League this season. The towering Nigerian striker has bagged 20 goals and provided 5 assists in 36 league games so far and is on course to finish the season as the league’s top goalscorer.
The 24-year-old striker’s exploits are understandably garnering attention from a number of top teams in Europe. Recent reports have linked Premier League moneybags Newcastle United with a potential move for the Nigeria international with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich also credited with an interest in his services.

With the ongoing speculations and growing uncertainty surrounding Arokodare’s future, Fink admitted the possibility of a summer departure and even went on to suggest that the club is already making plans for this eventuality.
“I fear the most for a departure of Tolu Arokodare, after such a season. Or Zakaria El Ouahdi,” the Genk boss said in an interview with Belgian news outlet Nieuwsblad.
“I don’t know, but we do have to look for replacements in their positions.”
Following Fink’s admission, it feels like it’s now a matter of when and not if Arokodare will depart Genk this summer. While his next destination remains uncertain at this point, the striker will definitely be looking to make a step up in his career and move to a bigger club.
