Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was a bundle of delight following his record-breaking goal-scoring display to inspire Galatasaray to their first Turkish Cup success in six years, Footynaija.com reports.
In Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the final, Osimhen bagged a second half brace – his 34th and 35th of the season – to surpass Mario Jardel’s 24-year record (34 goals) as Galatasaray’s highest-scoring foreign player in a single season.
What did Osimhen say?

Speaking after the game, the Nigeria international could not hide his delight at achieving the milestone. However, he also took time to credit his teammates for their unhinged support since he arrived at the Turkish capital.
“I think the record is of course a great thing, but I would like to thank my teammates very much. Especially today, Yunus was very unifying,” Osimhen said in quotes revealed by the club’s official website.
“Goals make me happy, of course, but I want to reciprocate the support my teammates have given me since I came here with goals.
” I am very happy to score goals, but it is a separate pleasure for me to go down in the history of this great club. We will continue to fight until the end of the season.”
Reacting to the passionate support from Galatasaray fans, Osimhen said; “I really can’t stand it, they show me so much love. There is a fan base here that gives everything for the team. There is an incredible passion that I have never seen in my career.”
What next?

With Cup success already secured, Osimhen and Galatasaray’s next order of business will be to tidy up matters in the Turkish Super Lig and complete an impressive domestic double to cap off their fantastic campaign.
Also, Osimhen’s future hangs in the balance with speculations about his next destination flying all around. Despite this, the 26-year-old is staying focused on finishing the season strongly before making a decision.
“Finally, I have to make a very big decision. Everyone at the club, the fans, my family have been really supportive throughout this process,” he said.
“I would also like to thank my daughter and send my regards from here. I will continue to give everything for the team until the end of the season. Then we will make our decisions.”
