Wilfred Ndidi’s future at Leicester City has taken a fresh twist, as Saudi Pro League giants Al Ahli have reportedly made contact with his representatives ahead of a potential summer move, Footynaija.com reports.

The Nigerian midfielder, who recently extended his stay at Leicester until 2027, is once again on the radar of clubs both in Europe and the Middle East.

Ndidi’s decision to commit to Leicester in July 2024 surprised many, considering interest from clubs in Spain and Turkey. At the time, the Super Eagles star cited his family’s comfort in Leicester and his strong bond with the club as key reasons for staying.

However, as revealed in an earlier report by Footynaija, the club’s relegation to the Championship triggered a £9 million release clause in his new deal, which has now brought fresh attention to his situation.

Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Fulham, and Everton are all reportedly monitoring the midfielder’s availability. The chance to return to top-flight English football at a cut-price fee has made Ndidi an attractive option. Turkish club Fenerbahçe have also been linked, with talk of the player being offered to them in recent weeks.

Still, it is the growing interest from Saudi Arabia that now dominates the conversation. Al Ahli, in particular, appear to be stepping up their pursuit and are said to be preparing a lucrative offer.

A report by Afrik-Foot revealed that Al Ahli have already initiated contact with Ndidi’s camp, and negotiations could advance swiftly in the coming weeks.

The Saudi league has already attracted several top African players in recent windows, and Ndidi could become the next major name to make the switch.

Although no deal has been agreed, a move this summer now looks increasingly likely.
